Evaluation questions:
How have you used technology?
What have you learnt from completing this task?
What conventions have you used and why?
What would you change if you were to do this task again?
- I took the image for my front cover using a cannon camera. It took many shots to get the correct one I was looking for. I then took this image to Photo Shop to manipulate the colours and lighting. I used Google Images to find the 'splat' image for a plug which was included on the front cover and contents page. I added a bar code onto the front cover on the bottom left corner which I also downloaded from Google Images. I used Photo Shop to insert my colour scheme which is lilac and black. I created the lilac boxes on my front cover using Photo Shop so that the Cover Lines were visible. I also used Photo Shop to use the correct font which associated with my magazine theme. The same font was then used for my contents page.
- By completing this task I have learnt that I must add development details, explaining and conveying how I got to my final product. This includes adding the images before I took the perfect shot.
- The conventions I have included are a Masthead, a Cover Image, Feature Stories, a Bar Code, the Price, a Cover Story and a plug. The Masthead for my magazine front cover is 'Polaroid'. This acts as the title to my magazine therefore the font is the biggest on the full page. I decided to use this specific font as the Polaroid Camera was invented around 1948 which creates an old fashioned effect therefore I needed a font to associate with the formality. The Cover Image is also connected to the theme of my magazine (which is photography) and the Masthead as the model is holding a Zenit camera which was manufactured around 1952. The Cover Image is a medium close up which fills the front cover which is exactly what I wanted.
- If i was to do this task again I would experiment with a wide range of fonts to see which would fit with the magazine title. I would definitely improve the contents page as there is no colour scheme. The sub-headings should be more clear as to what the feature stories include.
